It was a privilege for the Wat Buddharaingsi Khmer language school staff and students to have met a Cambodian Human Rights activist Mr. Kem Sokha,
who had just been released from jail by the government of cambodia over human rights issues in the country including freedom of speech and expression.
Mr. Kem Sokha was invited to give a talk to our grade two and three students, about why he was arrested, his experience in the prison and his strong belief to freedom of speech in Cambodia, and his work for the improvement of the living standard of poor people in Cambodia, while he was visiting Melbourne from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th February 2006. The students quite like his talk and asked him a number of questions regarding his personal life, his work and the lives of the many young and old poor people in Cambodia.
