This year is the year of the Rat, Buddhist Era 2552

General Information

The Cambodian New Year celebrations will be held for three days starting from Friday 11th April 2008 to Sunday 13th April 2007 at Wat Buddhrangsi Melbourne, 159 Clarke Road, Springvale South Vic 3172. Over 5,000 Cambodians are expected to come and celebrate this traditional and cultural event.

Program in Brief  

Friday 11 April 2008
(Evening) - The traditional celebration and Buddhist ceremony, live Cambodian band, traditional foods and games amusement.

Saturday 12 April 2008
(Morning) - The celebration and Buddhist ceremony
Official guests' participation: New Year messages
(Afternoon) - Building of sand mounts, cultural and traditional games
(Evening) - Live Cambodian band, traditional foods and games amusement

Sunday 13 April 2008
(Morning) - The celebration before Maha Sangkran, New Year Day: Receiving Tevada Chnam Tmey (New Year Spirit)
(Afternoon) - Dedicate the sand mounts to the spirit, cultural and traditional games
(Evening) - Live Cambodian band, traditional foods and games amusement
